Welcome to my new series of blogs on Airtable scripting where I am explaining what you can do in airtable scripting app in the form of small lessons. This is Introduction to Airtable scripting where I am presenting to you the potential use cases of airtable scripting app and about scripting.
If you already have experience with airtable then you might already know that airtable is a great tool. But just creating a base and using tables, we can't make it more useful. You must use automation in airtable in order to get the best results. Scripting and Automation are features that can reduce your efforts drastically.
Scripting is nothing but a feature of airtable that allows us to use JavaScript to perform certain operations on our data. For example, you might want to go through records on your base and find out particular values or update, delete or create new records. All of these can be done by scripting. Scripting allows us to customize automation in specific ways.
To use Scripting in Airtable, You just need to install an app. Just click on 'Apps' on the top right corner of your screen and you can install the app. Apart from this scripting can be used in automation. For example, you can set a trigger and as an action, you can choose to run a script.
